Anxiety In Our Marriage
When we feel anxious in our marriage, our head can feel like this image. So many thoughts and ideas seem to pack themselves in our head. We try to shut it in or let it out but they just keep coming.
It becomes hard to breath, hard to do anything. The only way to settle the thoughts is to learn to put words and feelings to your experience and share them. It may not be something you are used to or know how to. This is fine, it is a new skill to learn and develop.
Most of what we do in marriage counseling and therapy in general is to develop language to communicate our experiences. This helps our brain organize itself better and leads to different experiences when those thoughts show up again.
Reducing anxiety in your marriage means you have to learn to talk to your spouse about it in a new way. It is something you can try on your own, but you can also get help with it. Together, you both can work to reduce the anxiety in your marriage.
